these 3 engines from left to right (ex mount carmel anthracite hahn , former wilburton #1 bruco, former mount carmel west end ward lafrance) sat in a field on us route 54 between mount carmel & shamokin for quite a few years. ironically a restaraunt burned to the ground in front of these 3 where they sat idle. the owner of these supposedly got into a squatters rites dispute on the land. and the land owner had them crushed

The land owner should have been in one of them when it was crushed. Even worse though is when they take old warriors and use them for advertising. Case in point up outside of Wilkes Barre by the VA across from TGI Fridays is a piece sitting along side the road.

We sold the truck to the owner of the now Defunct Hook and Ladder Restaurant in Nesquehoning. He was a former Assistant Chief of Lansford and we trusted him that he was going to take good care of it being a member of the company. Sadly he left it out in the parking lot in the elements and it started to rust. He then went bankrupt and the truck was bought by a person who claimed to be restoring it. However, the way he towed from Nesquehoning to Tamaqua Transfer, it looked more like he was going to sell for scrap. They towed it by the bumper instead of using a wheel lift or trailer and during the transport it slammed into the back of the tow truck inflicting major damage to the grill, bumper and fenders. Here are some of the pictures that were taken at the Transfer station of it. I warn you now that they are not for the faint of heart.

dave, i remember seeing this piece and wondered what happened to it. it was in pretty good condition when i saw it last, but it really sad now. there should be a crime against this . Wilkes Barre City had a piece identical to this but with the infinitewisdom ofa certain ex mayor, he decided to take off the alluminum aerial and cash it in!!!! this was after the rig was refurbed with a detroit diesel. talk about waste of money or NO brains, however we figured out which one it was and hes no longer the mayor
