The 2nd Annual Schuylkill County Antique Muster & Open House is scheduled for this Sunday, October 5, at the Schuylkill Fire Training Academy east of Frackville. The event begins at 10:30 AM with a parade of antique fire trucks from the Schuylkill Mall to the training academy and ends at 3 PM with the presentation of awards. Activities include a variety of firefighting and rescue demonstrations in addition to an antique fire apparatus pumping contest and Safety House. New and old apparatus alike will be displayed. A variety of fire memorabilia vendors will be in attendance to offer a great opportunity for early Christmas shopping for your firefighter friends. Any Schuylkill County fire company is welcome to display their fire/rescue apparatus.
Schuylkill County Firefighters' Association Chaplain, Reverend Fred Crawford, will conduct a Memorial Service at 2 PM at the Fallen Firefighters' Monument on the grounds. The food menu includes burgers, sausage sandwiches, pasta salads, hot dogs, pierogies, and a variety of drinks. The Schuylkill Historical Fire Society new t-shirts and sweatshirts can also be purchased. The Muster/Open House is co-sponsored by the Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters' Association and the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society. The event is FREE to the public.
