This is the "repeat customer" historical note about the fire that I sent this morning: The fire yesterday kinda preempted my original historical post for 2009. I'll ship that later. Anyway, I recognized the address on dispatch yesterday as having been a "repeat customer" for the fire department. The earlier fire at 1324-1326 Mahantongo St. stuck in my head because of the annotation in the Good Intent's fire log: "Flames on Arrival." 11/10/1963 - Box 33 - 05:55 - 1324-1326 Mahantongo St. Cause: Unknown. Loss: $12,580. Four apartments were damaged in the fire. Fire originated in the first floor front room of the apartment of George Knox at, I believe, 1324. It spread to the second floor apartment of Arline Boone. Smoke and water also damaged the apartments of Mrs. John Schwalm and Mrs. R.Y. Williams on the first and second floors respectively at 1326. The fire was discovered by City Police Officers Al Dusel and Tom Laubach while on routine patrol. Patrolman Dusel "hooked" the box at 14th & Mahantongo. The fire occurred on Sunday morning and Asst. Chief William Clay (ironically, also from the West End) had "Command." He left it standing for Mike to finish-off 45 years later!!! Nice job to everyone involved, from the Command Staff to the guys hooking all that ceiling. Looks like one of those old-fashioned fires with ice hanging all over the building today. Also, this is a link to some helmet cam video of our roof operation near the B/C corner over 1326 Mahantongo (courtesy of Mark Higgins): www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js77mKmDZGgOther pics and videos... www.coal-region-fire.smugmug.com/gallery/6978339_xcPRN#446628608_kowMX

Thanks Mike! I figured you would come through, but did not want to put any pressure on you. I have known a few "frequent flyer" locations myself. And Steve, as always, great pictures!
