Hey everybody,
My name is Dave Hood. I been in the fire service for 14 years, but I have been around the fire department since I was a little kid when I'd go to the hosey with my Uncle. All of those 14 years I ran with the Lansford Fire Department, serving as a LT from 2004 to 2007. I gave it up when I moved to Berwick. I have a BA in History from Lycoming College and I teach Tech Ed at the Panther Valley Middle School. I am a history buff when it comes to the fire service, I can't get enough of the History of the fire service. The new pieces that KME, Pierce, E-one are putting out now are great pieces but they don't have the character that the Foxes, Macks, Seagraves, Lafrances, Maxims of the past have. It breaks my heart to see old warriors sitting in junk yards or in fields rotting away. I salute these people spaamfaa and SHFS that rescue them and keep a part of the past alive. My favorite piece is an Ahrens Fox. Maybe cause when I was a kid Lansford had 3. A 1916 Fox Steamer on a White Chassis, a 1937, and a 1949 which so happen to be the first firetruck I got to ride on. The site is great. I will gladly share pictures that I have in my collection from the past, even-though they are mostly from Carbon County, but it is on the border with Schuykill.

Hello All. I am Bob Reynolds from Newswatch 16. My son is a Captian in the Forty Fort Fire Department I am also the "scanner master" for NEWSWATCH 16 and a ham radio operator. I do have a suggestion for the creator of the board. Maybe it would be wise to have a "slot" created for communications. Best Regards, Bob Reynolds www.wnep.com/Global/story.asp?S=624265&nav=menu158_14

Hello, I'm Brian, the guy commonly seen driving around in a 1943 Ward LaFrance. I live in NY, but frequent the coal region (ie. my hometown area of Shamokin). I'm employed as a firefighter with FDNY and am still a card carrying member of the Station 40, Independence Fire Association in Shamokin, PA. Great job with the site, Tom. I'm sure I'll see you and all the others around this summer season.
Mickles, maybe we can win at Philly this year!!!

Hi all, Trina here. I'm currently the Chapter President for the Pompier, Pump, and Playpipe Society of Indiana. A friend passed along a link to your website, and I thought I'd drop in to say hello! I own a couple of American LaFrance 700s, one of which is undergoing a complete rebuild (engine, aerial, body, paint, etc.). I'll be checking in regularly now that I know this forum is here. Come see us in Indiana in 2009!
