1978 American LaFrance Century Series Pumper, ex-Ft Worth, Texas. Equipped with about 800 feet of 4" supply line, 24-foot extension ladder, 18-foot roof ladder, and a 10-foot attic ladder. It has about 75 feet of hose on the reel which stays as well. The keystones stay, too. All the warning lights stay. About the only thing we will take off is the radio. If the deal is right, we will also leave the Federal 66 siren on the bumper. It has a STRONG 6V92 Detroit with an Allison automatic that was recently serviced about 10 miles ago. We had a new kill cable installed as well as a new air regulator. The seal on the trans selector shaft was replaced as well. No leaks. The Detroit has virtually no leaks, either-it doesn't leave any puddles.
Only real issues are the speedometer does not work, and the fuel gauge is stuck on full (I think it is a shorted wire because sometimes it will work.) The tires are virtually new with no tread wear, and she has aluminum wheels. The old wheels began cracking between the lugs so we replaced them. She pumps great in volume and pressure and recently had new pump packing and hardware installed. The last pump test was in 2007 (I think) and if not, it was 2008. We didn't do a pump test this year to save money since we really never use the engine. It is not cosmetically perfect but has no dents and is mechanically sound. We have a new truck coming, so it will soon be outside which is a terrible place for it to be. I hope someone who will appreciate it will buy it. Contact Matt Hutsell (hut3@windstream.net or 817-894-1362) with questions or picture requests.
