The Buffalo had been re-lettered to the correct spelling of Mahanoy City when I examined it at the Syracuse muster. If you have seen it before in person, the only clue that something was changed was the slight difference in paint color where a few letters where changed. The owner did this sometime between this year's Winchester,VA parade and the Syracuse muster. Unfortunately, every time I see the truck, I cannot find the owner/operator to talk to him/her about it. they stopped at the museum on way up & back

I had seen earlier in this thread a photo of the Good Intent, Pottsville's 1937 Ahrens-Fox VC 500 gpm pumper that became famous as an attraction at Heisler's Dairy Bar. Attached is a photo of the Good Intent's first Ahrens-Fox - a 1929 1000 gpm piston pumper. The Fox was delivered to Pottsville by rail on Sunday afternoon, October 6, 1929. A factory rep from Ahrens Fox, George L. Wood, supervised the unloading and testing of the engine. It was housed in the firehouse for the first time on Monday evening, October 7, 1929. It arrived just in time for the Fire Prevention Week "Apparatus Inspection" in downtown Pottsville on Friday evening October 11. The apparatus inspection was essentially a parade down Centre St. The Fox replaced the Good Intent's 1910 Robinson 700 gpm Triple Combination Pumper - the first piece of motorized fire apparatus in the City. The Good Intent has re-acquired the Fox. It is currently in good condition in storage in Pottsville. The Fox was sold and left the Good Intent on Saturday November 2, 1957. It returned on Tuesday September 27, 2005.

Yeah, that's gotta be it. It was sold back in late '91/ early '92 to Crested Butte, Colorado so it'd make sense that it would be sold out of Colorado. Hated to see a Seagrave leave town, but that rig had its ups and downs. It was actually the first rig on which I did driver training back in the late '80's. I see only the bed ladder remains...must've failed its cert somewhere along the line. I dunno, but $7k seems a little high to start the bidding... Thanks for the heads-up...it's great to keep track of where past P'ville rigs end-up.

Pottsville Yorkville former "Truck 61" - 1967 Maxim quad. It is currently privately owned and, as shown, is painted black. It was delivered in its original red color on August 4, 1967. It had a 324hp 1091 cubic inch Hall-Scott engine with 5 speed forward transmission and non-slip rear. A 1500 gpm pump was installed to handle the torque of the engine, but was "cut-down" to a 1000 gpm rating with 5" suction intakes. It was re-powered/refurbished around 1984. A diesel engine was installed. A white upper cab was added to match the company's rescue truck. In addition, diamond plate was added around the wheels and on the upper fire body. The rig features a lot of "bling" in its black livery. I was always partial to the original all red as it really was a handsome rig. This is the Maxim in its original red... This is what she looked like shortly before it was sold (note the "For Sale" sign in the jump seat window!) in 1997...

Like a proud parent... Pottsville Good Intent's former 1988 Hahn 1000 gpm pumper is still catching first-due work...in Camden, NJ. 20 years (10 with Camden) and still doing the job. www.phillyfirenews.com/content/firewire/detail/2094We were discussing at the SHFS Christmas Party the fact that many of the rigs produced today lack character or distinctiveness...Photo # 6 from the PFN webpage brought a smile to my face!

You're right, Mike. They all seem to be "cookie cutter" rigs, just like today's autos and housing. It seems like everyone is taking the easy way out and making only slight modifications to design. I know a Captain in Camden FD if you'd like a tour. He's a great guy and would be very accomadating. Just send me a PM on this forum (or on PFN - same login name as on here).
